About Us

Isaac, John, Madison, and Mary
Present and future employees of MNS, Inc.

Moneta Numismatic Services, Inc. is a Florida corporation owned by John and Mary Lavender. Until the end of 2011 MNS did business in partnership with Wayne G. Sayles as Sayles & Lavender LLC.

John is well known in the ancient coin collecting fraternity, especially among collectors on the internet. He earned a degree in Classical History from the University of Georgia and worked for many years as an auction cataloguer and internet sales specialist for Classical Numismatic Group. He is highly regarded for his development of a strong internet presence while at CNG and subsequently when he worked for Atlantis, Ltd. in Orlando, Florida. More recently, John and his wife Mary created Moneta Numismatic Services, which is a multi-faceted support service for dealers that specializes in photography, attribution, cataloguing and marketing projects.

For those who have coins to sell, we do buy coins under private treaty. We also accept consignments of ancient coins that complement current stock and we are well positioned to help with the formation or liquidation of collections. Our reputation for honesty, integrity and customer satisfaction is sterling and we encourage you to ask any of your friends in numismatics about us. If you have any questions about an offering on our web site, feel free to ask for a personal opinion. You will always get an honest answer based on considerable experience in the hobby.
