1984 reprint of the scarce Numismatic Notes  and Monographs #32 and #47 with Additions and Corrections by Ann Johnston. Large SNG format 12" x 8.5", hardbound, yellow  cloth,  129 pages + 44 excellent plates with black and white photographs. Published by The American Numismatic Society in  New York 1984. A comprehensive look at this interesting series of Greek coinage and still standard reference on the coinage of Metapontum. In the preface, Ann Johnston states, " Noe's Metapontum is essential reading for any scholar working on the coinage of S. Italy." There is a historical background and survey of the coinage, a catalogue of the coins from 1a - 547 plus all the notes. Excellent resource! This reprint by Ann Johnston includes details about the Coinage in Double Relief to the middle of the fourth century, a section of Noe's original work that was never completed before he died. Dennis Kroh in his Ancient Coin Reference Reviews book gives this reference book FOUR STARS . Kroh says that this book, "is a die study that still remains the standard reference on the subject. This reprint is the preferred edition since the earlier version had misleading dating. Out of print from the publisher American Numismatic Society.
